Legal awareness workshop
#Baghdad_Women_Association held a legal awareness session on 7th July as part of the project “Strengthening the resilience of Syrian women and girls and host communities” in Iraq, implemented with the support of UN Women and the European Trust Fund (Madad).
The workshop, attended by a group of women from the compound of Nabi Allah Younis in Nahrawan, east of Baghdad, tackled the subject of ratifying marriage contracts, including electronic ones.
The session included clarifying the procedures for establishing the marriage contract in court and the required documents to complete the procedure, as well as women’s legal rights guaranteed by such contract. It also dealt with reasons for having out-of-court marriage contracts and any consequences of such practice.
