UNHCR delegation visits BWA’s Duhok Center
Staff of the #Baghdad_Women_Association’s Listening and Counseling Center in Duhok received on June 26, 2019 a delegation from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), represented by protection workers Sandra from Iraq, Ms. Hanan from Egypt and Ms. Ha Yun from China.
During the visit, a meeting was held to explain the mechanism followed by the Center in the implementation of the cash-for-work programme, carried out within the framework of the project “Strengthening the resilience of Syrian women and girls and host communities in Iraq”, which is supported by UN Women and the European Trust Fund (Madad).
The BWA team dwelt on criteria followed to select beneficiaries and distribute items produced by beneficiaries during the activity to hospitals, nursing homes and reforms centres.
Success stories of the project and were also discussed during the meeting, while highlighting the key role of the Baghdad Women Association in guiding and motivating beneficiaries of its various services and projects.
