Awareness Workshop On Women’s Rights – Qaraqush
The staff of Baghdad Women Association in Qaraqush , conducted an awareness workshop on Women`s Rights within the project “Reintegration Support for Women and Girl Returnees in Al Hamdaniya District and Seji Village ” , supported by Tearfun , on 2nd April , 2019 . The Project Manager started the workshop with an introduction of the services provided by BWA , then the introduction between the participants. The workshop included detailed illustration of the Personal Status Law , the Iraqi Penal Code , early marriage , forced marriage, marriage outside the courts as well as discussing crimes against human freedom and dignity. Stories of some of the participants were shared , reflecting the violence and forced marriage conditions they had experienced. The participants discussed the valuable information they acquired from the workshop which would help them understand their legal rights.
