A training workshop on the INAP of UNSCR 1325 in Dohuk
Baghdad_Women_Association implemented a training workshop on the INAP of UNSCR 1325 in Dohuk on July 15th, 2020 within (Monitoring and Advocacy for the Implementation of Iraqi National Action Plan for UNSCR 1325) supported by UN Women and Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), the workshop was attended by 20 participants from government institutions representatives, civil society representatives and activists, it aimed to raise awareness on INAP of UNSCR 1325 and how it was implemented and gaps of the first INAP, also the role of the CSO and governmental institutions on how to work and maintain sustainability regarding her role in participation in conflict resolution and decision-making process, some of the workshop outputs was the suggestions and recommendation raised by the participants during the discussion and legal and community gaps that is leading to violate women’s and girls’ rights, They also expressed their willingness to cooperate in raising awareness about INAP within their society.
The main recommendations were conducting more workshops on INAP of UNSCR 1325 and cover more areas, posting on social media topics that are related to the INAP, including such resolutions in school classes special girls’ schools cause it is related to women rights, engaging religious clerics and parliament members in seminars to talk about their role within INAP, also engaging women who had been facing violence during and post conflict, and creating a strategy that can be developed based on monitoring women’s stories, the importance of including Ministry of Immigration and Displaced, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA) cause displaced women who have experienced violence are the majority of society and advocacy campaigns and lobbying to establish sustained listening and counseling centers for women and not to be limited to project duration implemented by civil society organization.
