Strengthening Women’s Leadership Through Advocacy and Collaboration

Baghdad Women Association (BWA), in partnership with the Free Yezidi Foundation (FYF), recently organized cohort meetings that brought together more than 30 women Changemakers from Sheikhan and Qaraqosh.

The meetings aimed to strengthen participants’ advocacy skills and support their ongoing community initiatives. Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, the Changemakers enhanced their ability to engage with government officials and other stakeholders, communicate community priorities, and adapt their advocacy approaches to different contexts.

Participants also exchanged experiences and lessons learned while working on initiatives addressing a range of community issues, including environmental protection, harassment, gambling, and improving education systems. The meetings provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration and build connections among women leaders.

Through this partnership, BWA continues to support women Changemakers in developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to advocate for their communities and contribute to building a more inclusive future where women and girls play an active role in shaping positive change across Iraq.
