Engagement & feedback sessions with WROs, women & girls-BWA-Anbar

Baghdad Women Association held a dialogue session in Anbar Governorate on December 3, 2024, with the participation of a representative from the Community Police. The session aimed to “assess the needs of women and girls in the region” and raise awareness about reporting mechanisms for violence. A group of women from different areas of Fallujah participated in the session, where they discussed the challenges they face violence and how to report such incidents to ensure the protection of their rights.
The session was organized as part of the “”Strengthening Women’s Rights Movements on the Women, Peace and Security agenda in three fragile contexts,” project, in partnership with CARE International in Iraq and supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The session covered important topics related to “women’s protection mechanisms” in the local community and the importance of enhancing cooperation between community police and civil organizations to provide the necessary support for women who are victims of violence.
The session also highlighted the social and cultural challenges women face in reporting violence, along with providing guidance on how to safely and securely reach the relevant authorities.
