BWA Participates in Expanded Meeting with the NGO Directorate in the Kurdistan Region

Ms. Jihan Hussein Mohammed, Legal Advisor at Baghdad Women Association, represented BWA at an expanded meeting organized by the Directorate of Non-Governmental Organizations in the Kurdistan Region in Duhok Governorate.

The meeting brought together around 150 local and international organizations working in Duhok Governorate and the Zakho Independent Administration, along with representatives from local government institutions. The meeting focused on discussing ways to strengthen and improve NGO operations and reviewing recent facilitation measures introduced by the Directorate.

During the meeting, the Director of the Directorate, Mr. Falah Hassan, and his Deputy, Mr. Herdi Ahmed, presented the main steps and procedures recently adopted to support local and international partners.

The discussion also highlighted the Directorate’s future plans, particularly measures to simplify annual financial reporting procedures, tax exemptions, and social security arrangements for staff and workers in the NGO sector.

The meeting concluded with an open dialogue, providing an opportunity for organizations to share their views, feedback, and the legal and administrative challenges they face in their work.
