Together to End Violence Against Women: Conference Highlights Collaborative Efforts by Iraqi Ministry of Health, Baghdad Women Association, and Heartland Alliance

As part of the 16-day campaign to end violence against women and girls, the Iraqi Ministry of Health – Women’s Affairs and Human Rights Department held a conference titled “Together to End Violence against Women”, in cooperation with Baghdad Women Association and the Heartland Alliance International Organization, within the “Justice for All” project. The conference was held on December 8, 2024 at the headquarters of the Iraqi Ministry of Health in Baghdad, attended by Ms. Dunya Al-Shammari, Head of the Women, Family and Children’s Committee, and Ms. Shaima Salah Al-Din, Director of the Women’s Affairs and Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Health, with participation of members of staff numbers from health units and departments of the Ministry’s centers in Baghdad and the governorates. The conference included discussions of important topics highlighted women’s issues and the violence they are faced with, in addition to the response mechanisms used by the Ministry of Health and its related units.It also highlighted the opening of health units for the care of women and children under the care of specialized doctors. Baghdad Women Association highlighted its role in providing a range of various services to support and protect women and girls, through providing psychological and social services, providing legal protection, and various activities that aim to raise awareness of women’s rights and raise their status in the family and society.Furthermore, Heartland Alliance International reviewed its achievements in providing support to women and girls in the governorates, through projects and services that aim to protect and empower women and girls in various fields.The conference also witnessed a performance presented by Baghdad Women Association staff in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs and Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Health, where the role of health staff in receiving women survivors o壯陽藥 f violence and the mechanism for providing services to them was explained.
