Legal awareness session on Combating Discrimination Against Women
Baghdad Women Association, through its LC team in Duhok – Seiji, and in partnership with UNWOMEN, organized on 25th March, 2019 a legal awareness session on the subject of “Combating Discrimination Against Women”.
The workshop was organised as part of the activities of the Project “Strengthening the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls and the Host Community in Iraq”, funded by the European Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis “MADAD”.
The session focused on familiarizing the participants with women’s legal rights as under Iraqi laws. The session also tackled principles enshrined in international human rights laws which emphasize equality and prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex. The session was held as part of BWA efforts to familiarize women with their rights on the basis of Iraqi and international laws and principles.
