FGD meetings to assess the process of peace-building and social cohesion

BaghdadWomenAssociation held Focus group discussions FGD meetings to assess the process of peace-building and social cohesion in Al-Hamdaniya district on 24-25 July 2019 at BWA center. This activity comes within the Project of “Advancing peace building and reconciliation through the inclusion and empowerment of women and girls in Iraq” with the support of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF). The sessions targeted a group of returnees and included participants from different religions and nationalities, men and women. The participants presented their views on the ways and mechanisms to promote the process of peace-building and social cohesion, as well they discussed the extent of the individual’s influence as a citizen in the process of building and promoting peace, the session also concluded of how to assess the person himself and his role as one of the builders of peace in the community. Finally, the participants’ vision of a future free of violence was discussed with the participation of their ideas on the planning of initiatives and several programs that promote peace building and social cohesion in the community.
