Baghdad Women Association Launches an Initiative to Establish Peace Classrooms in Bashiqa Schools to Promote Social Cohesion
As part of the project “Contributing to Inclusion and Social Cohesion in Post-conflict communities in Iraq” in partnership with Adyan Foundation and with support from the German Federal Foreign Office, Baghdad Women Association has launched an initiative in Bashiqa aimed at creating peace classrooms in three selected schools in the area.
This initiative seeks to strengthen social cohesion and foster relationships among students from diverse backgrounds, emphasizing the importance of diversity and acceptance of others. The schools were selected based on criteria including diversity and existing social tensions, making them ideal environments for implementing this project, which aims to bring together various groups and promote peaceful coexistence.
The initiative includes equipping the model classrooms with appropriate furniture and educational tools to create an engaging learning environment that supports values of peace and mutual understanding. Additionally, the school gardens were enhanced by adding new seating and planting greenery, contributing to a welcoming and safe school atmosphere.
This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by Baghdad Women Association and Adyan Foundation, with generous support from the German Federal Foreign Office, to enhance stability and peaceful coexistence in communities affected by conflict. The project reaffirms the commitment of both organizations to building a brighter and more united future for all components of society
