Distinguished Presence of Baghdad Women Association at the “It’s Time for Iraqi Women” Initiative Meeting

Baghdad Women Association participated in a women’s meeting attended by representatives from various governorates, organized by Asuda Organization as part of the “It’s Time for Iraqi Women” initiative. The meeting focused on the reasons behind the exclusion of women from decision-making positions and processes.
During the full-day meeting, several working papers were presented, covering topics such as women and elections, challenges and opportunities, cancel culture against women, hate speech and its impact on women, and women’s participation in political decision-making.
The meeting concluded with a set of recommendations, some of which were presented by the Baghdad Women Association. Among the most important recommendations were amending laws, including the Election Law and the Political Parties Law, to ensure women’s rights and protection, as well as advocating for initiatives and campaigns to change societal attitudes towards the importance of women’s role in state-building, emphasizing that this role is derived from their role in building the family, and relying on religious leaders and civil society institutions to support these efforts.
