Baghdad Women Association Participates in Panel on Minority Participation in Iraq’s 2025 Parliamentary Elections

Baghdad Women Association, represented by our colleague Olivia Zaya, participated in a panel discussion on the participation of minorities and components in the 2025 sixth parliamentary elections of Iraq. The event was organized by the STEP Organization for Democracy and Elections, in cooperation with the NAZ Organization for the Development of Women and Children, on October 22, 2025, at the Cultural and Social Center of the University of Duhok.

The symposium included two main sessions: the first addressed the experience of the quota system for components in Iraq,While the second focused on the importance of minority participation in elections and the voting mechanisms both theoretically and practically.

The event was attended by a group of representatives of the governorate’s components, academics, specialists, and civil society activists. In conclusion, an open discussion was held during which participants shared their views and suggestions on the topic.
