Third Women’s Committee Meeting

#Baghdad_Women_Association held the third meeting of the Women’s Committee in Baghdad on 1 July 2019 as part of the activities of the project “Strengthening the resilience of Syrian women and girls and host communities in Iraq”, funded by UN Women and the European Trust Fund Madad.

The meeting was held in cooperation with the Women Empowerment Department in Baghdad Governorate and in the presence of members of the Baghdad Provincial Council, the advisor of the Baghdad Governor, representatives of the Directorates of Baghdad Municipalities, Municipality of Baghdad, Municipal Council of the 9th of Nissan District, various ministries and service departments, youth and sports forums and civil society organizations in addition to women leaders from communities in Baghdad.

The meeting discussed the needs of women and their experience in dealing with the humanitarian services that were extended by BWA, as well as the most important challenges and obstacles facing women.

At the end of the meeting, a list of priority issues and recommendations for women was prepared, with participants making suggestions on means to improve services provided to women and to enhance their participation in local government bodies and other relevant institutions.
