Participation in the increasing of suicide phenomenon workshop

In a workshop organized by the High Commission for Human Rights on “The Rise of the Suicide Phenomenon among the Community: A Serious Challenge and Negative Effects that Threaten the Entity of the Community” on July 18, 2019, A representative from BaghdadWomenAssociation Ruaa Badawi participated in a workshop organized by the High Commission for Human Rights. During the workshop, a study on the subject and suicide statistics were presented in Baghdad. The audience was represented by a wide range of civil society organizations, community police and representatives of the Ministry of Interior.

The workshop concluded by opening the discussion to the audience to express their opinions and make the necessary recommendations to achieve results that contribute to reducing the spread of suicide phenomenon, especially among young people. The main recommendations were the need to raise cultural level of the society to raise awareness about the dangers of the phenomenon by launching a national awareness campaign in cooperation with ministries and related institutions, A number of attendees recommended the importance of opening listening centers with a social researcher. In response, the representative of the society pointed out that the association in turn has opened a number of listening and guidance centers in the provinces of Iraq and the presence of social researcher and social support staff to JA Nub carried out a series of awareness workshops on the phenomenon of suicide in a number of schools to raise awareness of the seriousness and implications of the phenomenon, so it is necessary to network between organizations and government agencies to expand the scope of services provided in this framework.
