opening Psycho-social, legal support center in Naser Area

Within the framework of the project “Strengthening access to protection, participation and services for women refugee, Internally Displayed People (IDPs) and host communities”, funded by the European Union Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis, the EU ‘MADAD’ Fund” and in partnership with Euromed Feminist Initiative, Baghdad Women Association celebrated the opening of its new Psycho-social, legal support, case management and referral services center for women and girls at Obaidy District for refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and women and girls from the host community in the Obaidy District in Baghdad on 18 February 2019.

The opening ceremony was attended by community leaders, sheikhs, clergymen, local government representatives from the security services, municipal council, local council and a number of civil society organizations working in the Baghdad. During the opening session, topics related to women’s issues focusing on the main societal challenges in the region and ways of responding to them took place and was led by Mrs. Sabreen Khashan, Social Worker for the center.

About the center:

The center is located at Obaidy District 768/Street 4/ House 5 and is open for public on daily basis from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide women with greater and safer access to comprehensive multi-sectorial services – legal, psychosocial, Sexual and Reproductive Rights – SRR, Gender Based Violence – GBV related services.
