Launching the first observational report conference

#Baghdad Women Association concluded 2019 with launching the first observational report within “Monitoring and Advocacy for the Implementation of Iraqi National Action Plan for UNSCR 1325” project supported by Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund “WPHF” in cooperation with the Secretariat of the National Team/General Secretariat for the Council of Ministers, the conference included nearly 100 participants representatives of the Iraqi ministries (Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, National Security Adviser, National Security Agency, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Immigration and Displacement, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Planning), republican presidency office, world bank, civil society organization, media and activists on 31st of December 2019.

The conference was opened with a speech by the project manager Duaa Farouk, which included a brief of the association scope of work and the project and reasons of launching the first observational report, which is documenting and presenting the ministerial achievements of the implemented ministries of INAP of UNSCR 1325 during 2019 and documenting 2019 achievements between the completion of the first INAP and launching the second one.

Mr. Qassim Al-Zamili, Head of the Secretariat of the National Team/General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, spoke about the role of organizations and their importance in monitoring and implementing activities that serve women and society and praised the role of the secretariat and its support to the organizations’ work and joint cooperation of the General Secretariat and facilitating working teams and their tasks.

Then Mr. Haider Al-Awadi/member of the team who is preparing the second INAP and was part of the team who prepared the observational report presented the report which documented the ministerial achievements and explained the mechanism that adopted in collecting information, challenges and recommendations.

Open discussion between attendees and facilitator (Haider Al-Awadi) about future recommendations and presenting their notes of the report. In conclusion, the attendees were thanked for their dedication and commitment regarding their work on women’s and society agenda to achieve a better reality.
