“GBV, Leadership and Advocacy awareness session”

Within the framework of the project (Support for stabilization in Hamdaniya district – Strengthen community resilience, enhance relations among returnee women and girls, enhance wellbeing and advance women and girls’ rights) supported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

#Baghdad_Women_Association implemented an awareness workshop on gender-based violence (GBV), Leadership and Advocacy by Qaraqosh Center for Listening and Guidance staff on October 2nd, 2019.

The awareness session starts by giving information about BWA and the services provided by the listening and counseling center in Qaraqush and the goal of the project, the workshop targeted 50 women and girls.

The workshop dealt with several topics, including the concept of violence and gender and the problem tree and the causes, solutions and results that lead to violence, with an explanation of the types of social violence and differences between sex and gender, the workshop also discussed the concept of violence and power and the relationship of power with violence, and allowing women beneficiaries to express their suggestions on the types of violence they have suffered.

Also, the workshop dealt with the definition of leadership and the most important features required in the personality of women leaders, besides the definition of the concept of advocacy, its types and purpose.
