GBV awareness session

Baghdad Women Association implement a Gender based violence session in Qaraqush listening and counseling center throughout the project of “Enhancing Community Resilience and Empowerment of Returnee Women and Girls in Nineveh Plain, Al-Hamdaniya district” which its funded by Lutheran World Federation.
The session targeted 15 women and girls, the session starts by welcoming the participants and identify the services that BWA center provided to women and girls in Qaraqush, then it dealt with several topics, including the concept of gender-based violence and its definition and the differences between sex and gender and according to the World Health Organization, the types of violence (self-directed violence / interpersonal violence / collective violence) were also addressed and the concept of violence against women was presented through several examples of the reality of society in the form of a true stories and successful stories of women and girls.
