Comunity Protection and Empowerment
BWA implemented 7 workshops of Becoming an empowerment woman in your community on January 2013 supported by IRC, 20 women attended each workshop and the total number were 140 women, from the 8th of January until the 16th of January 2013, 140 women attended workshops of Self-esteem and self-confidence, all women were from the quarters (Dwanim, Naser, Hussiania and section).

from the 17th of January until the 27th of January BWA  implemented 7 workshops of Becoming an empowerment woman in your community the workshops topic was about Decision-making capacity
   

 BWA implemented the last 7 workshops of Becoming an empowerment woman in your community on February and March 2013 supported by IRC, 20 women attended each workshop and the total number were 140 women, the workshops topic was about How to keep your health, and all women were from the quarters (Dwanim, Naser, Hussiania and sector 5
Baghdad Women Association implemented the first workshop for dialogue with young men about GBV, its types and its negative effects on the family and society at the listening center of Hay al-Nasser on the 16th of April 2013 supported by IRC, attended the workshop 27 young men from the neighborhood

Baghdad Women Association Opened its “listening center for women at al- Sadr City on January 1st 201Baghdad Women Association implemented two dialogue workshops with men about the protection and empowerment of the community on the eighth and ninth of May of 2013 at hay al-Nasser neighborhood3 and it will continue till December 31st 2013, the center will provide social, legal and psychological services through the lawyer, social worker and a Psychotherapist, the work in the LC started by making field visits to the people in al-Sadr city, the municipal council in al- Sadr City, organizations department in the municipal Council, and some of civil society organizations

Dialogue between Religious leaders and women activists

Baghdad Women Association implemented the first training workshop of the project (Dialogue between Religious leaders and women activists ) against all forms of violence against women on the 16th and 17thof February / 2013, with the support of  NPA at the Oil Cultural Center  with the presence of (16) women activists, and (7)  Religious leaders of various religions, in addition to parties representing the media and guests, the workshop included many topics on the concept of violence and its types, causes against women, women’s rights in international conventions, the Iraqi constitution, and national legislation, including the personal Status Law No. 188 for the year 1959, the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, and the role of Religious leaders to promote the reduction of violence and the reasons that lead to the emergence of violence in society, because Religious leaders are considered the most influential people in Iraqi society.
 At the end of the training workshop there was an evaluation forms distributed to the participants in addition to writing recommendations at the end of the second day of the training.

Baghdad Women Association Implemented the second training workshop at the Oil Cultural Centre on the 23rd and 24th of February 2013, with the presence of (10) feminists activists and (4) religious men of various religions and other parties representing the media and number of guests
                                    
                                                                                  


Baghdad Women Association Implemented the third training workshop at the Oil Cultural Centre  on the 2nd and 3rd  of March 2013, with the presence of (14) feminists activists , (4)  the religious men from different religions in addition to other  parties representing the media and guests
    
                                                                                                   
 

Baghdad Women Association held the fifth  training workshop over two days 23rd and 24th of  March 2013 at  (for Iraq cultural Organization), with the presence of 22 male and female participants, the workshop addressed the issue of violence and women’s rights in the Constitution in addition to the Iraqi laws and the international conventions.
Baghdad Women Association implemented the sixth training workshop over two days the 27th and 28th of March 2013 at  (for Iraq Cultural Organization) with the presence of 15 participants from religious men and feminists activists
Followed by the implementation of the seventh workshop over two days 30 and 31st of March 2013 at  ( for cultural Iraq Organization) with the presence of 10 participants

The last eighth workshop was implemented over two days on the 13th and 14th of April at Al remal hotel with the presence of 12 particpants
On 25th May 2013, Baghdad Women Association implemented the final Conference of a project aiming to enhance dialogue between clerics and women activists to combat all forms of violence against women.The conference was organized at the Hotel Ishtar Sheraton and financially supported by the organization Norwegian People’s Aid.
The conference was attended by a number of partners in the project, including women activists and religious leaders from various religions and sects and was covered by media. A representative of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq was present as well.
During the conference, activities conducted in the frame of the project by Baghdad Women Association were reviews and success stories linked to implementation of those activities targeting religious leaders and women activists were shared.
The project presented a great opportunity to bring together religious leaders representing diverse communities and highlight their important role in reducing the phenomenon of violence against women, especially in light of the rapidly increasing rate of violent acts committed against women. They were invited to study the root causes of this problem and recommend appropriate solutions to contribute to the reduction of this phenomenon. This is where the importance of the project lied in religious leaders designing a set of recommendations and committing to emphasize the need to combat violence against women during their sermons.

Listening and counseling social and legal center of women in Al- ameen district
Baghdad Women Association Opened its ” Listening and counseling social and legal center of women in Al- ameen district’ on the 20th  of May 2013 with the support of the International Rescue Committee (IRC)and with the presence of the municipal council of 9 Nissan district representatives , and a number of notables of the area, the opening ceremony  included the definition of the work of the center and its services, which include (psycho-social and legal support) as well as awareness-raising workshop for women through the program of becoming empower women in your community(BEWIYC) andThe dialogue sessions for men and women

Baghdad Women Association implemented three workshops within the second session of the program Becoming Empower Woman in Your Community (BEWIYC) at al-Ameen LC on the 16th, 17th and 18th of July for the year 2013 with the support of the International Rescue committee (IRC)‬
