BWA convenes second meeting of women’s committees
Baghdad Women Association LC staff in Duhok, organized the second meeting of women’s committees on 31st March , 2019 in the presence of representatives of governmental departments and NGOs.
The meeting came as part of the activities of the Project “Strengthening the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls and the Host Community in Iraq”, supported by UNWOMEN and the European Trust Fund “MADADFund “.
Participants in the meeting tackled various problems facing women with the aim of suggesting topics solutions to them.
Among the problems discussed were early marriage, unemployment and the worsening economic conditions, which participants said can be a cause of various types of violence. The participants came up with a set of recommendations for solutions provided by the committee members, such as launching legal and community awareness campaigns.
As a result of the meeting, a detailed report was written after discussions between the parties (governmental and civic) with the aim of offering a roadmap to resolving these problems.
