Beginning a series of voluntary awareness workshops on family and community violence

Baghdad_Women_Associatio’s Listening and Consulting Center in Seiji, Dohuk, began a series of voluntary awareness workshops on family and community violence on June 30, 2019.

The workshops come as part of the project “Strengthening the resilience of Syrian women and girls and host communities in Iraq”, which is being implemented with the support of UN Women and the European Trust Fund Madad.

The center’s lawyer, Jihan Hussein, will be presenting the series, which are scheduled to include eight sessions targeting a number of girls and women in the village of Seiji.

The purpose of the sessions is to introduce the concept of domestic violence, its causes, its impact on girls and society, and how to deal with it.

The outcome of the sessions is that the girls give examples of violence from their reality after the statement of the concept of violence with the turnout and the presence of a large number of girls.
