Baghdad Women Association continues to provide awareness-raising workshops about Gender-Based Violence
#Baghdad_Women_Association staff in the Social Listening and Counseling Center in Qaraqosh implemented four online awareness-raising workshops about Gender Based Violence (GBV), during June and July via WhatsApp within the framework of “Supporting Community Resilience and empowering women and girls returning to the Nineveh Plain, Al-Hamdaniya District” funded by Lutheran World Federation (LWF).
The workshops targeted 30 women and girls and 29 men and boys aiming at raising their awareness, the sessions started with introducing BWA and the services provided in Qaraqosh Listening and Counseling Center as well as various topics about the concept of GBV and the social differences.
The participants who took part in the sessions were very active with the social worker through their comments and by providing realistic examples about violence and they asked to continue implementing such workshops. At the end, they expressed their gratitude and satisfaction about the topics discussed. One of the women said “I am very happy to have the chance to participate in the session as I get so much benefit and I will encourage my family and my friends to take part in the next sessions” and a man said “It is my first time to participate in such workshops and I hope you would implement other sessions for men and boys to increase the awareness among young people in the society”.
