Baghdad Women Association continues to implement awareness-raising workshops for women and girls

#Baghdad_Women_Association staff implemented nine awareness-raising workshops about Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Reproductive Health (RH), four in Karbala for 67 beneficiaries, and three in Najaf for 32 beneficiaries, as well as an additional two in Al-Nassir Center for 18 beneficiaries. The sessions took place in the second half of June 2020 via WhatsApp and skype, within the framework of “Strengthening Access to Protection, Participation and Services for women Refugees, Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and women in Host Communities in Iraq”, funded by the European Union, through the EU’s Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syrian crisis, the EU ‘Madad’ Fund and implemented by a consortium led by EuroMed Feminist Initiative.

The sessions played a key role in increasing knowledge and awareness of women and girls about GBV & RH and giving providing them with a platform    to express their opinions and thoughts; several girls volunteered to spread knowledge and gather call on women to participate in the sessions.

In addition to the sessions,  many women were able to receive psycho-social support (PSS) provided by the social worker through the safe lines.
