Awareness workshop on sexual harassment concludes
A workshop on sexual harassment was convened at the #Baghdad_Women_Association’s centre in Seiji, Dohuk, as part of the project “Strengthening the resilience of Syrian women and girls and host communities in Iraq”, which is supported by UN Women and the European Trust Fund (Madad).
The workshop was organized by the Center’s lawyer, Jehan Hussein Mohammed, in the period 16-26 June 2019.
The workshop is part of a series of sessions intended to raise legal awareness by girls and women about sexual harassment. The sessions aim to familiarize participants with legal provisions, including the Iraqi Penal Code and the law against violence against women in Kurdistan Region, in addition to the most important international conventions that protect the rights of women.
The outcome of the sessions was to introduce girls to the concepts of sexual harassment, legal penalties facing perpetrators and means to deal with harassment.
