Awareness session familairises displaced women with ‘Right to Dignity’

#Baghdad_Women_Association organized a legal awareness session titled “The Right to Dignity” in accordance with Article 1 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Conducted as part of the activities of the project “Strengthening the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls and Host Communities in Iraq”, implemented with the support of #UNWomen and the European Trust Fund (MADAD), the session targeted a number of displaced women and girls in Seiji village in Dohuk.

The session, which was presented by lawyer Jihan Hussein, dealt with the concept of dignity as one of the basic human rights that cannot be violated under any circumstances. All people rights should be respected in accordance with international laws and conventions and people should be treated equally under the law without any discrimination on the basis of race, religion, colour or gender, Hussein told the session.
