Baghdad Women Association held a discussion session to present a study entitled (How the Budget of Iraq in 2019 is Responsive to Gender) Within (Monitoring and Advocacy for the Implementation of Iraqi National Action Plan for UNSCR 1325) supported by UN Women and Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), on July 2, 2020 via Zoom Application, the session started at 6:00pm to 8:00pm

The study presented by Dr. Mohammed Abbas Ahmed, during the first hour the researcher gave a brief about the study and how the budget of Iraq 2019 is responsive to gender, in light of the international and national endeavors of many countries towards achieving equality between men and women and achieving social justice, and seeking to achieve sustainable development, countries today are making a significant efforts to adopt a gender-sensitive budget, according to the urgent need to apply such kind of budgets in our countries, the study sought to clarify the concept of financial budget and its importance as well as types, what is gender-sensitive budget was discussed, how it is prepared, implemented and monitored. The Iraqi financial budget was mentioned and compared to the Moroccan financial budget, the study attempted to explain the ways to access the gender-sensitive budget and process to achieve it. It’s important to mention that sustainable development is achieved in case of integrating gender within the formulations and strategies of the public budget, and the plans and programs of government institutions through the inclusion of both men and women in taking important decisions in improving development status.
